Accounting and bookkeeping for growing San Diego County companies

Clean books are the foundation for everything else: accurate tax returns, reliable cash forecasts and a business a buyer or lender can trust. Yet many growing companies are running on books that are months behind or kept on a cash basis that hides what is really happening. Scalesight provides outsourced accounting that closes the books every month and gets them right.

Whether you need ongoing monthly bookkeeping, a one-time catch-up project or a QuickBooks file rebuilt from the ground up, the work is reviewed by CPAs who also prepare tax returns. That means your books are tax-ready by design, not cleaned up in a rush each spring.

Accounting and bookkeeping services

  • Monthly bookkeeping with bank, credit card and loan reconciliations
  • Catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping for months or years that fell behind
  • QuickBooks Online setup, chart of accounts design and file cleanup
  • Month-end close with accrual-basis financial statements
  • Accounts payable and receivable tracking and aging reports
  • Payroll journal entries and coordination with your payroll provider
  • Sales tax tracking to support your CDTFA filings
  • Tax-ready books handed directly to the tax preparation team

Who we provide outsourced accounting for

  • Companies with roughly $1M to $30M in revenue
  • Owners whose books are behind or kept in spreadsheets
  • Businesses moving from cash-basis to accrual-basis reporting
  • Companies that want one team for bookkeeping, tax filing and CFO work

Bookkeeping details that matter in California

California businesses deal with more state-level accounts than most. Sales and use tax is reported to the CDTFA at rates that vary by city within San Diego County, payroll includes State Disability Insurance and state unemployment insurance through the EDD, and LLCs owe annual tax and fees to the Franchise Tax Board. Books that track those liabilities correctly make filings simple and avoid surprise notices.

Separate federal and California depreciation is another detail many bookkeepers skip. Because California does not follow federal bonus depreciation, the tax basis of your assets can differ between the two returns. We keep the fixed asset records your tax preparer will need.

Small Business Accounting and Bookkeeping questions

How long does catch-up bookkeeping take?

It depends on how far behind the books are and how many accounts are involved. A few months of catch-up can often be completed in a few weeks, while multiple years take longer. We give you a timeline after reviewing your accounts.

Do you work in QuickBooks Online?

Yes. QuickBooks Online is the system most of our clients use, and we can set up a new file, clean up an existing one or migrate from desktop. We can also work with other cloud accounting platforms when that fits better.

What is the difference between outsourced accounting and a bookkeeper?

A bookkeeper records transactions. Outsourced accounting adds reconciliation, month-end close, accrual adjustments and CPA review, so you get financial statements you can rely on for taxes, lenders and planning.

Should my books be on a cash or accrual basis?

Smaller businesses often start on a cash basis, but accrual-basis statements show true profitability, especially when you invoice customers or carry inventory. Many growing companies keep accrual books for management and use the method that is most favorable and allowed for tax.
